What Movie is an Always Watch?

If you grew up in the seventies and eighties like I, did you probably have a love affair with movies. Then when beta machines, and eventually VHS came out it was a game changer. You could go to the local video store and rent your favorite movie and spend all weekend watching it over and over, and suddenly binge watching was invented. Did you really Netflix came up with that?

Today with all the steaming services you are no longer at the mercy of the cable networks

reairing your favorite movie or the vHS tape getting gummed up in the machine. You can make a bowl of popcorn, get a drink, and plunk down for an entire afternoon of your old favorites. One of which for me is an Avenger movie.

Of course, there is the obvious reason to watch the Avengers, or should I say at least 4 reasons, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and Hawkeye. I won’t lie and say there are days that I just need Thor to flex his biceps and save the day. I could even watch it with the sound off, but then I wouldn’t get the extra layer of his accent floating on that deep, deep voice…

Anyway, ahem, back to my thoughts. The reason I can always sit and watch an Avengers movie is because I love to see the good guys win and the bad guys lose. In a world where sometimes, the bad guys go unpunished, and the normal person suffers more than they should it just makes

me feel good about life again. Another reason I am a Marvel addicts are the origin stories of all these characters. They are fallible just like the rest of us. They don’t always make the right decision in the moment, but by the end they do, do the right thing, for the sake of it being the right thing. They have a clear idea of right and wrong, and you can see that evolve over time as their characters evolve.

One of my favorite characters is Iron Man. I’m honestly not sure I would like him so much if it wasn’t for Robert Downy Jr... To me the character and the actor mirror each other’s struggles, and both are better for it. Again, as a child of the eighties I watched Robert Downey Jr’s. downward spiral which was horrible just as an on looker. I think he was able to bring humanity to Tony Stark, because of his own struggles.

At the end of the day, no matter if they are a monster, a God from another planet, a messed-up billionaire, or an assassin, they come together regardless of their differences to champion the cause of right in the world and that makes me all warm and toasty inside.

Also, I could have listed The Princess Bride, Pride and Prejudice, Goonies, and the list goes on. Any of these are on my stop channel surfing and watch if I’m scrolling and see any of these running. My tastes are nothing if not eclectic. Do you have a go to movie? Why?

Next, we have Caro Kinkead with a new release!
